Accordion Series

"I grew up in what some would call a Backwoods kind of environment.  We hunted, fished and trapped for food and spending money.  Grandpa was a fiddler, supporting his family by playing at dances. Uncle Herb took tree trunks and made them into finely crafted fiddles.  It was my family's desire that I use my long fingers to also play the fiddle.

But one day I saw an ad in the local newspaper, the Argus Leader, that said," You can play the Accordion too!"  My mother was excited at the idea of her daughter being another Lawrence Welk accordion playing band member and made arrangements with the accordion dealership to clean the owner's house every Friday to pay for this beautiful instrument. I practiced and became a mediocre player and eventually put the instrument in the closet, much to my family's disappointment.

Over the years I have contemplated this instrument and its beauty.  So with brush in hand I am now "playing" the accordion once again, but this time I am "playing" it with visual virtuosity."
